two.

One week! and I had almsot forgot about this!

Life has been hectic, both with personal and work issues. Life at Billy Blue has been filled with many (3) group assignments and one heavily weighted independent design project. Deadline galore, and millions of research to do. I can’t wait to get back into designing some more things.

Currently I have been updating my portfolio, in order to send out to studios and get work experience/internship. So hopefully all will go well with that.

Because I’m nice, and I want input, going to post my portfolio WIP. These are just screen shots from my computer, so ignore the weird and whacky sizes.

intro page

B Publication

Brief: Publication
Client: Bungalow Youth Shelter

Bungalow is a Youth Shelter, aimed at helping youths stay off the streets.
‘B’ is a publication aimed at the youth of Australia (ages 15-20). It’s essentially is a magazine for the youth, created by the youth. It will be linked to a work program in the centre, and will help allow the teens to showcase their skills (whether it be in writing, or art). The magazine will be bright and interesting, containing information and articles on fashion, art and music.  The square publication, will be a showcase of youth in today’s society. I feel that, it’s contemporary aesthetics connects with teens on their level, without being condensing. The large photo spreads and interesting articles, cause the magazine to become like a coffee table book, one that thwey will want to keep forever.

Brief: Publication
Client: Macro Wholefoods

The purpose of  this promotional booklet is to advertise and educate consumers of the benefits of organic foods, and Macro Wholefoods stores, philosophy and products. This brochure is aimed at women between the ages of 25-40. This is because they are more conscious about the food they and their families consume, and are the main demographic that does the grocery shopping for households.
To attract the attention of this target audience, I’ve kept the layout clean and simple, using only a bright orange colour to draw the eye to the brochure. The warm colours appeals to the maternal feelings of the demographic. I’ve used simple illustrations of branches to help evoke the idea of organic, fresh produce. This booklet will be seen in Macro stores, gyms and pull outs for women’s magazines (such as Woman’s Day).

Brief: Book Cover
Client: Random House Books

‘Saturday’ is a novel by Ian McEwan depicts the day of a neuro-surgeon set in London, England. The day turns from good to worse, as during a minor car incident the main character gets involved with a shady thug, who threatens his family.  The cover photo, is a reflection of the mood of the novel. The iconic London Eye sits looming in the background, while the low angle shots conveys impending doom of the protagonist.
To further emphasise this mood, I’ve chosen a high contrast shot, saturated in a dark navy blue.

Brief: Identity and Promotional Material
Client: Splendid Big Dream Music Festival

Slpendid Big Dream, is a music festival aimed at young adults. In this brief we were asked to develop an identity for the festival and apply it to relevant promotional material. I chose a comic book theme identity, as I feel that it stands out from the conventional dark and grungy posters. The light blue and multicoloured ‘bang’ will definitely attract attention from the target audience.

Tah Da!

beginnings.

Here is the beginning of something new.

Pressured into being here by Andrew, I’ve finally succumbed and joined. I hope for this to be something fun and exciting. Filled with lots of pretty pictures and perhaps a few words.

The layout needs some more tweaking, but that will come with time. Sorting through the mumbo-jumbo that is HTML takes time and patience.

So have patience. Sit back and breathe. Life will keep on moving.
